Barefoot Yoga

What an amazing night the Scouts and Explorers took part in last night. Becki from Barefoot Yoga visited and provided us with an evening of Yoga. I don’t think we have ever seen the youth members as quiet and focused. Everyone put 100% into the evening and it was great to see everyone learning some new out of the box skills. The evening started with warm ups and stretching. Then everyone learnt some basic Yoga moves and the evening finished with relaxation. Becki ensured the evening was enjoyed by all – even the leaders!

International Food Night

What a fantastic night he had last night at Scouts and Explorers. Last week each Scout and Explorer was issued with a country. They had to prepare and present a dish from their issued country and research its origins and traditions. Each member was then asked to prepare a short presentation ready for the meeting last night and of course – bring along the dish for tasting. Cooking skills were definitely put to the test and nearly everyone prepared food from scratch. Sweet and savoury meals were prepared and some of the facts about the dishes were really interesting. Welsh Cakes, Borsch, Pizza, Rice, Fresh Fruits, Pancakes, Coq au Vin, Scotch Eggs, Porridge, Spiced Apple Cake, Meatballs, Choco

Cub Safety Badge

The Cubs started the Safety Badge last night, beginning with road safety and the Green Cross Code. The evening began with an informative talk from Clive about road safety and road signs. The Cubs then had to re-cap the information Clive had presented and draw ten road signs from memory and explain what they were. Some of the Cubs struggled with this, but were helped by other members in their Sixes. A break half way through the evening and the Cubs enjoyed a game of “Captains Ship” which gave everyone a chance to run around and burn off some energy. The evening ended with a question and answer session around the Green Cross Code.

The New Year Begins

The Cubs, Scouts and Explorers all began the 2019 Spring Term with some exciting programmes. The Cubs leadership skills were tested, as were their eating biscuits skills! The Scouts took part in some basic training on survival shelters and also tidied up the lightweight camping equipment in the den and the Explorers finalised their Chief Scout and Duke of Edinburgh paperwork and had an amusing game of Pictionary with a twist.
