The Scouts and Explorers had an excellent evening last night. Ready Steady Cook was the theme for the activities and we saw some really great cooking during the evening.
The evening gave the older Explorers the opportunity to organise a programme for both the younger Explorers and the Scouts. They organised the plan for the evening, the judges and also the judging criteria. They also sorted out the equipment and ensured everything was in place as well as supervising the cooking and safety through the evening.
Where we usually hold activities in Patrols everyone was mixed up giving the opportunity for everyone to work with new people. This worked really well and we saw some excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
All teams cooked on Trangia cookers. Each team was given the same ingredients and also able to choose two extra items from a display table. Everyone also had the use of some stock products such as herbs, rice and flour. The teams were judges on hygiene, knife skills, taste, presentation, time management, cooking of protein and cooking of garnish. There was a clear winner which will be announced next Monday.
